Crystal Palace 1-3 United: 5 Things We Learnt As United Took Down Crystal Palace

What a way to celebrate Solskjaer's birthday!!! An injury depleted Manchester United team whipped Crystal Palace at Selhurst park on Wednesday night, thanks to a brace from Lukaku and a fine finish from the team's captain, Ashley Young. Here are five things ManUtdNaijaFM learnt from clash: 1. F-RED ISN'T 'RED-DY' YET The Brazilian midfielder Fred was given a starting spot yesterday in the heart of midfield.  His 1st half display was bumpy with so many 'pot-holes'. He gradually grew into the game. However, not much has changed as he was so often guilty of losing possession, which has been his major issue. He has the drive, and we hope he improves. 2. ROMELU 'TIMAYA' LUKAKU The big Belgian scored for the 1st time in 10 games. He clearly has been working so hard. In previous games, despite not scoring, he had created chances and given assists. Last night, he got a brace, and didn't celebrate until the 2nd goal. He hasnt been a h

United 0-0 Liverpool: 5 Things We Learnt From The Battle Field

The super Sunday clash between Manchester United and her old arch rival Liverpool, ended in a 0-0 draw. The draw however saw our 'commander-in-chief' of goalkeepers, De Gea, keep his 100th EPL clean sheet!! Here are the five things ManUtdNaijaFM learnt today: 1. UNITED 4-1 LIVERPOOL The game started with a rolling out of the injury drums. In the first half, United lost Mata, Herrera and Lingard!! Liverpool also lost Firmino. It was an injury competition with more injuries than shots on target, and United won 4-1 as Rashford nursed his injury for the entire game. He showed himself as a true United warrior...Kudos to him. 2. NO GOAL, NO ASSIST, NOTHING!! This is the story of Mo Salah. He has now played four games against United without a goal or assist. I am not sure if he has even had a shot on target!! Today, he 'added another feather to his cap' by being subbed off. He took so long to come off the pitch as he needed to climb out Luke Shaw

United Vs Liverpool: Five Unbelievable Records Set To Be Broken On Sunday

It's going to be a Sunday to remember in the English Premier league as United are set to take on Liverpool.   ManUtdNaijaFM takes a look at five exciting records set to be broken in this high profile encounter. Photo credit: Thestatesman.com 1. Liverpool forward Mo Salah has scored 49 EPL goals. Should he score against United, he would reach 50 goals in just 63 games, becoming the fastest player to reach that milestone. 2. De Gea has kept 99 Premier League clean sheets. If he keeps a clean sheet against the Merseysiders, he would attain 100 EPL clean sheets becoming the 7th goalkeeper to achieve that for a single club. Old Trafford would be a great place to hit such a milestone. 3. Ole 'Ugonna' Solskjaer could become the 10th United Manager to win his 1st clash with Liverpool. The last manager to do that was 'Oga Philosophy' Louis Van Gaal. 4. United have won 25 points in 9 games since the new boss took over. If United win or draw against

Chelsea 0-2 United: Five Things We Learnt As United Chased Chelsea Out Of The FA Cup

Manchester United continued their acting in the FA cup movie titled 'The Hard way', as they dished out another red card to a top premier league team, Chelsea. 2 brilliant crosses met with 2 'fanta-wonderful' headers were just enough to take us to the quarter final. Here are five things #ManUtdNaijaFM  learnt from the lovely win: 1. THE 'VIRUS' IS SPREADING The 'Pogba-virus' has continued to spread and Chelsea did not have a vaccine for it today. Tonight, he attacked again, starting with a 'Jollof' cross to Herrera for the 1st goal and flying into Rashford's cross for a 'Suya' header into the net. He now has 9 goals and 7 assists since Olè took over. 2. DIAMOND 4-4-2, WIDE FORWARDS. With Lingard and Martial out injured, the new boss approached the Chelsea game with this brilliant formation. It was an all out attack formation with Mata given the number 10 role and Herrera allowed to go forward more o

Terrible News From Old Trafford .....At The Wrong Time

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's press conference was delayed on Friday afternoon. No clear reasons were given. However, there was a lot of anxiety as to some recent events at Old Trafford regarding injuries.  The caretaker boss confirmed the worst news during the briefing with the press: The injuries to Martial and Lingard were not minor, as they will be out for two to three weeks.  This means they will miss the upcoming clash against Chelsea and Liverpool, with a chance of missing the return champions league clash with PSG!!!  This is a very sad news for Manchester United fans, considering that this is the most crucial time of the season for United. The boss will need a lot of reshuffling of the squad for these games, as the team's style of play was built around the pace of these duo alongside Marcus Rashford. This kind of double injury just before such high profile matches is what is referred to in Naija as ' Village people things. " OPINION POL

United 0-2 PSG: 5 Things We Learnt As United Crashed

Manchester United were handed their first defeat since the takeover of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It was a big European night, one Old Trafford had missed for a long time. But United crashed with two unreplied goals conceded, key injuries and a red card. Here are 5 matters arising from this crash: 1. COMPLACENT MARTIAL  Having just signed a new contract and scored a brilliant solo goal against Fulham, a lot was expected from Anthony Martial today. He just seemed to lack the fire and zeal in the 1st half. There wasn't much contribution from him prior to his injury which we sincerely hope is minor. 2. LOCKED POGBA The Parisiens planned prior to the game to lock Paul Pogba and they did. Infact, I don't know where they got the padlock or 'Pog-lock' from and who they gave the key.  Each time he was on the ball, he had three men on him forcing Matic to come forward with the ball more often. It finally ended in the most terrible way for him with a red ca

CONTRACTS GALORE AS ANOTHER UNITED VETERAN SIGNS CONTRACT EXTENSION

The mood at Old Trafford has certainly changed. Players who initially refused to sign contracts and even wanted to hand in transfer requests have suddenly formed a queue to sign new contracts. Within the last week, we have seen Anthony 'Ikechukwu' Martial and Phil 'Osaze' Jones sign new contracts. Just yesterday, United's dressing room DJ, Ashley Young signed a one-year contract extension. Ashley Young has been a dedicated and committed player for United since signing from Aston Villa. He has become the new John O'shea for United as he has played in different positions with so much commitment and vigour.  He started as a left winger, was moved to left full back, right wing, and recently has become the number one right back!! Under Oga 'Philosophy', he even played some games as a target man. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told MUTV: “Since I've come into the club, Ashley has been fantastic. His attitude and his experience around the pl

Fulham 0-3 United: 5 Things We Learnt As United Hammered Fulham

It was a wonderful Saturday afternoon for United as yet again under Olè Gunnar Solskjaer, three points were loaded into the Manchester United 'truck', garnished with a clean sheet. Here are five things ManUtdNaijaFM learnt from the victory at Craven cottage: 1. NO ANTI-VIRUS United's 'Swaggerlicious' midfielder, Paul 'Ikenna' Pogba, was labelled a 'Virus' by United's former manager. He has continued to show the kind of virus he is- a virus that destroys opponents! The beautiful thing is, there doesn't seem to be an anti-virus for him as he has now scored 8 goals and 5 assists since Ole took over. His 'bullet' shot today was incredible and left Fulham's keeper speechless. 2. TILL 2024 !! French midfielder and 'tormentor-in-chief' of right backs, Anthony 'Ikechukwu' Martial was at his best today, with an assist and a beautiful solo goal. The young lad recently signed a five-yea

Potential United Line-up vs Fulham As Solskjaer Confirms Two Fresh Injuries

Manchester United are set to resume Premier League duties with a match up against Claudio Ranieri's Fulham at Craven Cottage next on the cards. The Red Devils enter the match on the back of a 10-game unbeaten run which has seen them fight their way into top 4 contention, a current reality once regarded as a miracle two months ago. In line with customs and traditions of the land, Ole 'Ugonna' Solskjaer has updated the press about the latest team news alongside injury updates in his Friday press conference. “Rojo has been training for a few days, so he’s back in training,“ said Ole. ”But we’ve lost Antonio (Valencia) and Matteo (Darmian) through niggles for a couple of weeks," Solskjaer said in his injury update. “We’re still not bad. We’ve got 20-21 players training every day, so that’s good.” 20-21 players fit and ready is not bad by any means, but we do hope the injury list shortens in the coming weeks, with every personnel needed in

Great 'Marcus Rashford' News For Manchester United Fans

Manchester United's 'whiz-kid' is set to be rewarded for his fantastic form under the caretaker boss Ole 'Ugonna' Solskjaer. Playing in the striker position, he has scored six goals in eight starts and it's clear he is learning the striking ropes very keenly from the former baby-faced assassin. According to the Telegraph, Rashford is set to be rewarded with a new contract in order to 'strap him down with a seat belt' as United continue cruising back to the glory days. Real Madrid are rumoured to be interested in the United academy graduate even though his current deal runs to 2020. According to the Telegraph, United want to double his wages, which will see him earn up to £150,000/week if he agrees. Let them queue up and sign contracts.  The glory days of United are coming. Like we say in Naija, "The ministry is moving to the permanent site".   GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED.

FAREWELL FELLAINI; MAN UNITED NAIJA FM'S TRIBUTE

To a man who spent his days at United being looked upon as the 'passport photograph' of United's post-Fergie decline, thereby failing to fully warm the hearts of all of United's fan base.... To a man who 'showed pepper' to our 'bad bele' rivals with his powerful dying minute headers and elbows.... To a man who was the ultimate plan B and C for all managers he played under, doing his job as well as he could in every game..... To a man who fought for the United badge with every inch of his legendary afro and even low-cut in the last days.... To a man who's workrate and attitude to training was applauded by 'Oga Davido' Moyes, 'Ichie' Giggs, 'Oga Philosophy' LVG and José Mourinho despite fans calling for his head more often than not.... Yes, the 'Iroko tree' has finally fallen and been exported to Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng , but we stand here at ManUtdNaijaFM and appreciate the goo

Leicester 0-1 United: 5 Things We Learnt As United Beat Leicester.

It was the 10th game as United's caretaker boss and he came out unscathed. All that was needed to get the 3 points was a superb finish from our own 'whiz-kid'. Here are five things ManUtdNaijaFM learnt from this clash: 1. THE LAST MAN STANDING  Since Solskjaer's takeover, virtually every player has shown remarkable improvement in output and confidence. Watching Alexis today, he doesn't seem to have keyed into the new life in the team. He was low in confidence, unwilling to take on his man or make those runs into the box. Martial made more impact in 20minutes than he did in 70 minutes. 2. 'POWER BANK' MIDFIELD NEEDED Solskjaer has since chosen midfield 'collabo': Matic-Herrera-Pogba. They have been great together, but we need a back-up, a reliable 'Power bank'. Today, Pogba was visibly tired but the boss couldn't take the risk of pulling him out. Fred and Perreira need to step up. 3. DAVE SAVES AGAIN  He is not th

The eight game winning run of the Ole 'Ugonna' Solskjaer ministry was brought to a close on Tuesday following a hard fought 2-2 comeback draw against Burnley, allowing Sean Dyche to retain his personal record of never losing on a Tuesday. In line with customs and traditions of the land, Solskjaer addressed the press at the AON complex, giving out the latest team news alongside injury updates with respect to the United's next clash as well as the month of February in general. As it stands, the injury list is being occupied by one player, following the return to full fitness of Chris Smalling. Speaking about Pogba and Martial, the boss said, “We've not had a proper session since the game, so hopefully both of them can get through that,” said Solskjaer
