Brighton 3-2 United: 5 Matters Arising As Brighton Brushed Manchester United

After 36 long years of failing to beat Brighton Hove Albion at the Amex stadium, United made another effort and ended up with one of the most woeful performances of the José Mourinho era as they were mercilessly beaten 3-1 (sorry 3-2.....I forgot we scored in injury time). Here are five (5) matters arising from this defeat. 1. IT WAS UNITED VS BRIGHTON 'MUNICH'. It was unbelievable that United were not only beaten, but outclassed and outplayed by a team that did not have a single goal attempt/shot on target against Watford last weekend. Brighton looked fantastic, defending well and looking dangerous on the attack. United made them look like 'Brighton-Munich. ....Infact, #NaDemDeRushUs. 2. SUNDAY AWARD NITE It appears the Sunday evening clash was an award ceremony for Brighton. Glenn Murray was allowed his 1st ever goal against Manchester United, Duffy (scorer of the 2nd goal) was gifted his 1st ever Premier league goal. To add 'Pa...

UNITED 1-2 SEVILLA: FIVE MATTERS ARISING AS SEVILLA SENT UNITED PACKING

Photo credit - Mufc/Getty Images Manchester United welcomed Sevilla to Old Trafford for one of the most crucial games of the season thus far, with high hopes of progressing. However, Two goals in 5minutes from Ben Yedder was more than enough to end the Champions League dream at The Theatre of Dreams. Here are five matters arising from this unceremonious exit: 1.....AND FELLAINI RETURNED José Mourinho's adopted son and panic button 'Oga' Fela, who had been out for almost 3 months returned and was thrown in straight into the starting XI . It was painful to see the boss do this. A Matic - Fellaini 'collabo' against a fast, free flowing side like Sevilla? That was asking a Benz 4-Matic to race against a 'Keke-na-pep' (tricycle). 2. WHY CHANGE A WINNING TEAM? WHY? Why José Mourinho decided to do what we call in Naija 'Try ya luck'  on a crucial night like this remains a mystery. A consistent team had just won 3 straight games with goo...

NEWCASTLE 1-0 UNITED: 5 Matters Arising As The St James Park 'Palava' Continued

After 6 previous visits to St James Park without a single victory, José 'Uchenna' Mourinho took his squad for a 7th attempt and scored 'F-9' again. A 2nd half strike from Ritchie ensured the Red Devils left empty handed. These are 5 Matters arising from this clash:  Photo credit: Getty images 1. SOMEONE NEEDS TO TELL JOSÉ  José set up his squad in a 4-2-3-1 formation today with Martial on the right again. For the one-thousandth time, Martial on the right will not work. It is as simple as 'Guguru ati ekpa'. United fans may need a minister of information to help convey this info to the boss....Enough is enough. 2. MR ANONYMOUS  Paul 'Ikenna' Pogba's play today reminded me of 'NEPA's Low current'- Dull and un-inspiring. He was simply anonymous. I think José probably even needed a search party to fish him out for substitution. Photo credit: Getty Images The Swaggerlicious french midfielder needs to get...

BASEL 1-0 MAN UNITED: FIVE(5) MATTERS ARISING AS BASEL STRUCK UNITED

It was indeed a 'face-me-i-face-you' affair in Switzerland as Manchester United and Basel knocked horns at the St Jakob-Park. Both teams had their share of dominance but late strike from Lang ended the tie in favour of FC Basel. These are five (5) matters arising from this clash:
