ANDERLECHT 1-1 MANCHESTER UNITED : WHAT WE LEARNT

It was another familiar frustrating night for fans as Manchester United failed to finish off the game against  Anderlecht in the Europa league semifinal clash. Here are the five (5) things we learnt from today's draw.

1. TAKE YOUR CHANCES OR PAY THE PRICE.

This is a basic principle of football. United created some good chances tonight at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium but as usual lacked the killer instinct to finish the game. Excuses of the Anderlecht keeper being at his best may arise. But truth be told, United disobeyed the golden rule.

2. WIZKID MARCUS "RASHIDI" WAS IN THE MOOD
Rashford was a bright spark in United's set up today; running at defenders, shooting and even slide-tackling. He was a handful for the Anderlecht defence and deserved his assist.

3. MIKHITARYAN LOVES EUROPE.
The magician from Armenia scored a superb rebound from an impossible angle made possible by Mikhi-Magic. He has now scored 4 away goals in the Europa league for United this season. His goal aside, He had a poor game in the Trequartista role, guilty of losing possession severally.

4. DARMIAN REMAINS POOR.
Matteo Darmian was chosen in the starting lineup today ahead of Blind and Shaw - boy.  He had another 'blank' performance, not offering United any attacking outlet from the left wing. Defensively, he struggled . At this rate and pace, he may be given a red card out if the club next season.

5. COUNTER-ATTACK AT 'KEKE-NA-PEP' SPEED.
The speed of United's counter attacking play today was that of an old and smoking "Keke-na-pep".  The loss of possession in the final third of play was unacceptably high leading to many missed chances.

......IN THE END, United got a vital away goal, but we should have done better against a side like Anderlecht. Had the scoreline remained 1-0, we could have had two feet in the semifinals. But with that 86th minute thumping header, we only have one foot.

Up next, 'Bad bele' rivals Chelsea; SAME TIME, SAME STATION, on Sunday.
