United 1-1 Chelsea: 5 Things We Learnt As Top-4 Hopes Slipped Away

Manchester United could only get a draw on a day when a win was absolutely needed at Old Trafford to keep top-four hopes alive.

Here are five things ManUtdNaijaFM learnt as United and Chelsea took home a point each:

1. HERRERA MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE
United welcomed back the baby-faced midfield warrior Ander 'Akinbode' Herrera and he was absolutely buzzing.

It was no coincidence that this was Matic's best game since he left and United's best midfield control in a while. We may not have won, but this was United's best game since Herrera was injured.

2. TOP-FOUR ALGEBRA
With this draw against Chelsea, Manchester United have set a MATHEMATICS EXAM for her fans.
United will make top-four if Chelsea lose two matches or draw one while Arsenal draws two matches with Tottenham losing one and winning one......etc etc

Algebra may not be enough to work it out. We may need quadratic formula aka 'The Almighty formula' to solve this one.

3. DAVID 'OSINACHI' DE GEA
The super-fly goalkeeper made a very rare mistake which took away United's top-four hopes today. He is having a horrid week.

However, it would be unfair to charge at Dave. He has been absolutely  and consistently outstanding for United over the years.

He has saved us so many points that if not for him, we may have been in a relegation battle rather than top-four battle. #WeStandWithDave

4. BIG STATEMENTS
With United struggling to climb of  troubled waters, Olè made some big statements with the team today.

Starting Mata, dropping Lingard and Martial, and playing struggling Sanchez instead of Martial were big calls.
Martial especially has shown in recent weeks that he is not serious enough and being on the bench for 90 minutes today was good.

Pogba should be next; he is an amazing talent, but he needs to play for the team, rather than himself.

5. FIRST BUS AT DAWN
With a massive clear out of players likely to happen in the summer, Manchester United may have to consider ensuring that Marcus Rojo takes the first bus at the first 'cockcrow'.

The Argentine has failed to live up to expectation. Each time he manages not to be injured, like today, he is always a red card waiting to happen, nothing more. He narrowly escaped one today.

IN THE END, miracles happen, so United still have hope of clinching a top-four spot.

Congrats to birthday boy Juan 'Bankole' Mata who celebrated his birthday with a goal, finishing off a superb move by Shaw and Lukaku.
