United 0-1 Barca: 5 Things We Learnt As United Bowed To Barca Pressure

The red devils knocked horns with FC Barcelona at Old Trafford  for the 1st leg of the UCL quarter-final. An unlucky own-goal from Luke 'Ajebota' Shaw gave Barca a crucial win, garnished with a precious away goal advantage.

Here are five things ManUtdNaijaFM learnt from the clash.

1. TOO MUCH RESPECT United started quite slowly against Barca. We showed them too much respect, giving them time and space to showcase the best of 'tiki-taka'.

As the game went on, United got into the game and gave Barca a good run for their money.

2. UNLUCKY DAY
With everyone expecting a thumping from Barca, United have a good account of themselves. They created some good goal scoring chances, won free-kicks in dangerous positions, but somehow just failed to hit the target.

Dalot's miss was the highpoint of United's poor luck in front of goal. It was easier to score than to miss. In Naija language, he 'Yakubu-ed' the ball.

3. MCTOMINAY HAS 'WASHED HIS HANDS A popular Naija proverb says "when a child washes his hands clean, he dines with the elders", meaning certain actions of a kid can earn him a place among adults. That seems to be the story of United's academy graduate McTominay.

The kid was fantastic last night. He was everywhere from box to box. His last three  performances should earn him a place in the starting XI for the rest of this season so he can 'dine with the elders'.

4. FRED IS 'RED-DY'.
For the first time, Fred has put in consistent good performances for United in his new midfield anchor-man role.

Against Barca, he was great with good ball distribution, strong tackling, ball recovery and composure. More of the same Fred.

5. ASHLEY YOUNG, ASHLEY YOUNG, ASHLEY YOUNG!
The 33 year old dressing room DJ and captain had a very poor game going forward yesterday.

He 'deflated' so many good chances with terrible crosses into the box. He made 11 crosses with none hitting any United  player throughout the game. Some were even aimed at the linesman!!

IN THE END, we may have lost the game, but it was an encouraging display. We would have had a few goals with just a little extra luck.

 GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED.
