A thrilling game at Stamford Bridge saw Manchester United and Chelsea share the spoils. The Blues seemed headed for yet another chance win against United, until two 'CHIVITAstic' finishes from Martial turned the game in United's favour.
Here are Five(5) things ManUtdNaijaFM learnt from the clash.
1. ANTHONY 'IKECHUKWU' MARTIAL TO THE RESCUE
What a performance on the biggest stage. The French winger scored two 'fearfully and wonderfully' made goals to put United in the lead after going behind to a Chelsea goal. He has now scored 3 goals and assisted 1 in his last 3 starts for United.
Another day at the office, proving yet again why he's United's best option on the left. At this point, Alexis Sanchez should either be played on the right wing, or RIGHT BENCH.
2. FIRST HALF 'KPALAVA'
Another day, another horrible first half performance from the Red Devils. The Red Devils started the match with their 'anywhere-bele-face' football as usual, and deservedly conceded from a corner due to high pressure on United's backline.
After the break, a 'tear rubber' United walked out of the tunnel and almost sealed the victory with a fantastic team team performance.
Changes need to be made to this effect, as luck may not be so favourable on certain days. Our first half 'mumu don do'.
3. MOURINHO GOT IT RIGHT.
In a game where United were written off before the game, thanks to the highly praised "Sarri ball", the United boss set up his team for the counter attack, instructing his players to man mark the Chelsea players, denying them any space to threaten United's guard.
The tactic worked wonders, as Chelsea's 'Sarri ball' was completely neutralised, with the Blues left to feed off scraps for their goal in the closing moments of the game
4. LUKE 'AJEBOTA' SHAW
Another fantastic performance from the English left back, who locked down the left wing today, completely neutralising the threat of Willian, and later Pedro who was brought on later to try his luck.
A performance to justify his new 5-year contract signed in midweek. He finally has the 100% trust of his manager. May his reign at United's left back slot be long.
5. JUAN MATA JUSTIFIED HIS SELECTION
José 'Uchenna' Mourinho surprised all United faithful when he named Juan Mata in a midfield role alongside Pogba and Matic rather than the tested and trusted 'Eden-Hazard-chewing-gum-1 of Old Trafford', Ander Akinbode Herrera.
The boss' brave selection paid off, with Mata involved in most of United's attacking play throughout the match, as well as a being involved in the build up of both goals.
Simply put, the Spaniard paid his dues today, and deserves some accolades.
IN THE END, Ross Barkley's 96th minute strike was a 'Suya dagger' stab to United's heart. Little wonder Josè Mourinho burst out on the touchline.
