EVERTON 0-2 UNITED: 5 THINGS WE LEARNT AS UNITED EVAPORATED EVERTON

Everton hosted Manchester United at her 'Amusement' Goodison Park for the New year day groove. It turned out to be a very exciting visit as United dropped 2 beautiful 'Gifts' presented by Anthony 'Ikechukwu' Martial and Jesse 'Awilo' Lingard.

Here are 5 things #ManUtdNaijaFM learnt from the New year day visit:

1. THIS FORMULA MIGHT WORK
José 'Uchenna' Mourinho did a little shake up in his lineup and formation opting for a 4-3-3 with Matic, Herrera and Pogba playing in a midfield trio.

Although the 1st half looked like the same old story, the 2nd half was different with United completely outclassing Everton.

At least for the 1st time in a long while, we saw less of the 'lob-the-ball-to-Fellaini/Lukaku' style.

2. FROM 'OSU' TO MAIN MAN
United's Jesse 'Awilo' Lingard who had previously been treated as an 'Osu' (outcast) by United fans has in recent weeks become a main man for United and José.

Today, after several good attempts, he scored a 'Skelewu' goal to seal the 3 points for United - His 10th goal of the season....A great revival for the 'Awilo dancer'.

3. MATA'S RESURGENCE CONTINUES
Juan 'Bankole' Mata continued his season's resurgence with another excellent performance. He gave his all today in his characteristic false winger role.

He was unlucky  not to have answered 'Present sir' in the goal scorers roll call, as he had 2 beautiful shots at goal; one saved by the keeper and the other by the cross bar.

4. WE MISSED OUR DJ
Following the 3-Match ban for dressing room DJ, Ashley Young, our Jollof Defender Victor Lindelof was played at right back.

In all fairness, he was tidy in defence, not giving Bolasie so much space and could be praised for having a good game. However, we missed that extra attacking channel expected from a full back with little or no crosses coming from him.

5. MARTIAL AS A NUMBER 9.
It was nice seeing Anthony 'Ikechukwu' Martial play the role he was originally bought for- the number 9 position. In the 1st half he often seemed to forget he was the striker not the left Inside forward.

In the 2nd half, he grew into the game and in the end scored a typical Martial goal- Cool, calm and collected finish!!!.....It will be nice to play him there from time to time.

IN THE END, it was a very good way to start the year 2018 as it was a dominant display. Kudos to Paul 'Ikenna' Pogba for his fantastic display capped by two assists for the goals.

OPINION POLL
Is Martial better as a Number 9 or a left Inside forward?
Let's have your thoughts.

 GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED.
