UNITED 1-2 CITY: FIVE MATTERS ARISING FROM THE 'EL-MANCHESCO'

The El-Manchesco came, we saw it and sadly did not enter the promised land of victory. A reverse assist from Romelu 'Timaya' Lukaku gave Pep's  boys the edge at the Theatre of Dreams.

Here are five matters arising from today's clash:

1. WE MISSED PAUL 'IKENNA' POGBA.
Saying United did not miss Paul 'Ikenna' Pogba today is like saying 'Pepper-soup' doesn't need to have pepper in it.

The organization of the defence as well as the holding role of Hererra and Matic was good, but United lacked that link between defensive and attacking play, which Pogba would have given.

One can't help but recall the red card in the match against Arsenal and ask .....'Maka why'?.

2. WHY TODAY?
Of all days for Lukaku's 'village people'  to visit him, why on Manchester derby day? 'Maka why'? Every move from him today went wrong.

When he moved right, wrong; He moved  left, wrong; he jumped, wrong; He tried to dribble, wrong; He tried shot, over the bar; when he finally tried to defend, the WRONGEST WRONG happened- a reverse assist for the winning goal..... 'Maka why'?

3. DERBY DAY DECISIONS
A. With the scarcity of a right winger and a number 10, José 'Uchenna' Mourinho decided to once again start Martial and Rashford - a collabo that has been proven not to work.

Today as expected, it didn't work. Both of them were awful on the right, especially Martial. He was anonymous on the right until he was moved to the left.

Infact, United looked 'toothless' in attack until Martial was moved to the left......Not Mourinho's fault; Mata and Mikhi are nowhere to be found.

B. With Lukaku having a torrid time, an Ibra-Lukaku switch would probably have made more sense, at least to try something different. Instead Lingard was the sacrificial chicken.....'Maka why'?

4. ANDER 'AKINBODE' HERRERA
The midfield warrior had an excellent game today to say the least. He made countless interceptions, was constantly alert, and was the only reason why United were able to limit city from pressing so high.

Sadly, his brave efforts today were flushed down the drain with that 2nd goal.

5. 'SAN-SAN' AT OLD TRAFFORD 'GARRI'.
41 Old Trafford games ago, it was a Manchester Derby and United lost to Manchester City. That was the last loss at Old Trafford as United have been on a long unbeaten run at the theater of dreams making it up to 40 against CSKA Moscow.

A record of 41 games unbeaten at Old Trafford was about to be made today but it had to be the same  City and they  put 'San-San to our Garri'......'Maka why'?

IN THE END, a point (at least) didn't seem impossible to get, but 2 goals from 2 awful mistakes led to Zero points for Manchester United. A painful loss indeed. All we can ask is 'Maka why'?

 GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED.
