CLASS - Defence

POST - Assistant class prefect

SUBJECTS
EPL: 20%
EUROPA LEAGUE: 20%
CUP COMPETITIONS: 20%
FORM: 20%
CLEAN SHEETS: 20%

(1) EPL
His performances served as a reminder of the 'shaky shaky daddy' in the popular 90s PROCOLD ADVERT. Failed to show any confidence all season when dealing with all opposition strikers, bottom half or top half.

Manchester United lost only 5 matches in the league this season and guess who started in ALL of them? Mr. Chris 'Okonta' Smalling.
Made only 18 appearances in the league this season, and not a single performance glowing with confidence to remember.
SCORE - 7/20

(2) EUROPA LEAGUE
Made 10 appearances out of a possible 15 on the road to Stockholm. Decent in his outings, did start in one of the two losses United suffered in the competition.
Good performance at the heart of United's defence in the final, and an assist for Mhkhitaryan's winner to cap it all.
SCORE - 13/20

(3) CUP COMPETITIONS
Played in all four FA cup matches for United. Put in decent shifts at the centre of defence, with top marks for holding Chelsea off to their slender 1-0 lead after Ander Herrera's red card.(6/10)

Four appearances en route to the English League Cup final against Southampton, and named in the starting XI gave United her first major trophy of the season.
Coincidentally, Smalling was named in the starting XI of the only match United lost in their league cup campaign. (6/10)
SCORE - 12/20

(4) FORM
From being as solid as a rock under 'Oga Philosophy' LVG to being as soft as fresh 'Agege' bread this season, his form this season could only be described as abysmal.

Bereft of confidence, looked like a time bomb just waiting to explode with a defensive blunder all season. A shadow of his 2015/2016 form where he was voted United's players' player of the year.
SCORE - 6/20

(5) CLEAN SHEETS
12 clean sheets in 36 appearances for the vice captain. United's defence did finish as the second best in the league behind only Tottenham and he was a part of that achievement.
SCORE - 10/20

TOTAL SCORE - 49/100
GRADE - D

ManUtd NaijaFM REMARK - A poor result by all standards. He should possibly be transferred to another 'School' next term.
Lindelof should take over his 'Chair and Locker'.
