Manchester United held their annual award night yesterday, a night that saw first team and youth team players receive various awards, for their stunning displays this season in the 2016/2017 season.

First on the list was the Armenian Magician, Henrikh "Nwokeoma" Mhkhitaryan, rewarded for his scorpion kick, or as we would like to call in Naija, reverse 'Shangalo' against Sunderland. The Armenian has already picked up the habit of snatching similar awards at every opportunity, with his goals coming out on top as United's goal of the month for three of the five months where he scored.

Second on the list was Antonio 'Dede one-way' Valencia, who was voted as the players' player of the season, which sees first team players vote for their player of the season. A beautiful reward for a fantastic season, where he won United's player of the month for three(3) months of the season, the most for any United player.

He did disappoint in a section of the award night though, as he had to deliver his appreciation speech in Spanish with an interpreter by his side, despite living in England since 2006. In Naija adage, we simply say, 'The guy no just know book'.

Ander 'Akinbode' Herrera, what a player, what a gem. The 'Eden Hazard chewing-gum 1' of Old Trafford was presented the Sir Matt Busby award, which is given to United's official player of the season. The award was presented by David De Gea, who at last had to hand over, after his third term in office as player of the year.

Herrera pipped Valencia with 242 votes, with Zlatan 'Ekwueme' Ibrahimovic coming in close at third place.

Axel 'Tarzan' Tuanzebe won the Denzil Haroun trophy, which is given to United's reserve team player of the year, while youth prodigy Angel Gomes, became the youngest player to win the Jimmy Murphy youth team player of the year trophy at just 16years and 9 months.

Let's hope the players repay United for their awards by capping off the season in style with a Europa league final win.
