MAN UTD NAIJA FM END OF SEASON RESULT SHEET: JOSE 'UCHENNA' MOURINHO.

In anticipation of a highly exciting 2017/2018 season for Manchester United, ManUtd NaijaFM presents a quick recap of Jose 'Uchenna' Mourinho's first season in charge. Using our end of season result sheet feature, we grade the manager of Manchester United, based on his performances in various courses during the past 2016/2017 season..

POST : Class Prefect (Manager)

SUBJECTS GRADED:
Transfers (20%)
EPL (20%)
Europa League (20%)
Carling/League Cup (10%)
FA Cup (10%)
Community Shield (10%)
Players Form (10%)
TOTAL = 100%

(1) TRANSFERS(20%)
Mr. 'Uchenna' Mourinho went about his summer transfer dealings brilliantly, making a clear statement of intent in the transfer window by  sealing super deals for Eric 'Segun' Bailly, Henrikh 'Nwokeoma' Mhkhitaryan, Zlatan 'Ekwueme' Ibrahimovic and Paul 'Ikenna' Pogba, despite United's absence from the champions league.

All signings proved to be highly important, with Pa Zlatan 'Ekwueme' Ibrahimovic definitely the pick of the bunch, with his 28goals and 9 assists in all competitions; for how much? FREE!
SCORE - 17/20

(2) EPL(20%)
The boss started off on a bright note, winning all matches in August but 2 significant losses to City and Chelsea dealt a major blow. The boss stepped things up with a record 25-match unbeaten run thereafter. However, the brilliance of that won't be fondly remembered as United spent over 100 days in the 'office of the sixth position', thanks to a complete 'okro' soup diet, finally ending the season in 6th place. Sadly CONSIXTENT.
SCORE - 9/20

(3) EUROPA LEAGUE(20%)
Writing about this almost gives me the same joy we 'Naija' fellas get when an MC announces that it's time for 'item 7' at wedding ceremonies.

By winning the Europa league, Jose Mourinho became the first United manager to win the Europa league trophy, the one trophy that's been missing from the Trophy cabinet at Old Trafford. A trophy that even the 'Oba' of Manchester Kingdom, 'Baba' Fergie couldn't bring home. To add 'shaki' to the soup, he became the first United manager to win a 3 silverwares  (2 cups and 1 plate) in his debut season.
By getting an automatic ticket to the champions league, he laughed last and indeed, laughed best!
SCORE - 20/20

(4) CARLING/LEAGUE CUP(10%)
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Used this as a platform to get the doubters believing, made even sweeter by beating noisy neighbours Manchester City en route to the final.
The cup win carved Mr. Jose 'Uchenna' Mourinho's name into the United record books, as he became the first Manchester United manager to win a trophy in his debut season.#SPECIAL!
SCORE - 10/10.

(5) FA CUP (10%)
Good run, halted in the quarter final after a Herrera red card triggered a quarter-final loss to eventual league winners Chelsea. United and Herrera were compensated with the sweetest revenge of the season however, beating Chelsea BLUE-black in the league.
SCORE - 6/10

(6) COMMUNITY SHIELD
Beat the high flying champions of the previous league campaign to win the first piece of silverware on offer for the season. The foxes turned out to be his favourite opponents of the season, beating them  in subsequent fixtures 4-1 and 3-0. Infact, it can be simply said that he used the Foxes to do '404'.
SCORE - 9/10

(7) PLAYERS FORM
Jose Mourinho was a blessing to many players in the squad, taking the likes of Ander 'Akinbode' Herrera, Marcos Rojo and arguably 'Oga Fela' to another level, so much so that United fans lamented when Rojo picked up his season ending injury. In addition, Ander 'Akinbode' Herrera finally denied David De Gea a fourth term in office as the United player of the season.

However, many fans and pundits alike questioned his method of publicly criticising the likes of Anthony 'Ikechukwu' Martial and Luke 'Sure boy' Shaw, neglecting their tender ages and reaction to his criticism. The method did work wonders for Mhkhitaryan however, after his horror start to the season.

Not his best subject but who cares, he has returned our bragging rights with a treble.
SCORE - 7/10

TOTAL SCORE - 78/100
GRADE - B+

ManUtd NaijaFM REMARK - A very good result. He needs to work on his attacking football to improve his grades for next term. Step in Romelu Lukaku, let's see what you're made of.
