A look at the records smashed as United smiled home with The EFL cup

Manchester United lifted their first piece of major silverware this season with a hard fought win against a well drilled Southampton last Sunday. Here's a look at the records broken after the final whistle:

1. The EFL cup win allowed Jose Mourinho crest his name in the league cup Hall of Fame. The boss became the joint most successful manager in the EFL cup alongside our very own Sir Alex "Eze" Ferguson and Bryan Clough(4 cup wins each).

2. Yet another record was smashed on the night, as Jose Mourinho successfully became the FIRST EVER Manchester United manager to win a major trophy in his first season in charge of the club. He beat the likes of 'Oga' Philosophy, Louis Van Gaal who at least won the FA cup in his 2nd season in charge, and Sir Alex who won his first major United trophy after 4years in at the helm of the club.

3. With this win, Manchester United officially became the MOST SUCCESSFUL CLUB IN ENGLISH FOOTBALL HISTORY, overtaking Liverpool in the process. Both clubs were tied at 41 trophies each, but with a little Zlatanstic magic and "never say die" performances from the lads, the job was done!

4. Manchester United also kept up their magnificent trend of rewarding with a trophy, all players who have represented their first team in the last 10years.

Pogba was the main beneficiary of this one as Zlatan, Mhkhitaryan and Bailly had already been rewarded with the community shield at the start of the season. Even Zaha that only had a somewhat 'six-month internship' with United left with a community shield winners medal.

All in all, it's happy days for United fans all over the world, let's kick on and keep up the rebuilding of the dynasty.

Kudos to Jose 'Uchenna' Mourinho and his Zlatan led warriors.

GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED.
