A very very happy new year and happy new month to all Manchester United fans in 'Naija' and beyond.
United will march into January following a very eventful December in which a run of poor results saw Ed Woodward say 'enough is enough' to José Mourinho, appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager till the end of the season. The new gaffer has started awesomely, winning 3 matches on the bounce "the United way", scoring 12 goals in the process.
The Red Devils are set to 'cut the ribbon' of January with a clash against Newcastle on Wednesday the 2nd of January, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope to make it 4 wins in his first 4 games; a first for any United manager in history.
Next up, United will transfer their attention the progression in the FA Cup against Reading on Saturday January 5 at Old Trafford.
Their immediate next fixture will see Solskjaer take his boys to London, where they will be seeking revenge against a Tottenham Hotspurs side who desecrated United with 3 unreplied goals at Old Trafford earlier in the season. This will also represent the first clash so far in the new managerial regime against a top 6 side. May the boss invoke the anointing of 'Igwe' Ferguson's and punish their desecration duly.
Moving on, the Red Devils will be taking on another revenge mission against Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford, after they ran out 3-2 winners in the first leg earlier in the season. May the scoreline cast out every spirit of "we can do it" next time they see United.
United will then close shop for January when they welcome Burnley to Old Trafford, one of the two teams that has gifted United a clean sheet this season alongside Watford. We thank them for their support and encouragement in those trying times, and we hope to continue the good relationship this 2019.
All this to come from Manchester United this month of January.
